Choose one activity from each of the following sections. You may form groups of two or three students or work on your own for sections 1 and 2. Section 3 MUST be completed on your own.

Section 1:


Activity 1: Create a 5 to 10 minute presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint to share with the class about the early establishment of government within the English colonies. Be sure to include the following vocabulary terms: charter, legislature, tyranny.
Activity 2: Create a 5 to 10 minute presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint to share with the class about the ideas of an independent government by the colonists beginning with the English bill of rights to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Be sure to include the following vocabulary terms: direct democracy, republic, natural rights, Committees of Correspondence.
Activity 3: Create a 5 to 10 minute presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint to share with the class about how the colonists eventually established laws and regulations in regard to their newly formed government. Be sure to include the following vocabulary terms: compact, separation of powers,constitution, ratification.
Activity 4: Create a 5 to 10 minute presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint to share with the class about the differences created between various governmental documents. Be sure to include the following vocabulary terms: English Bill of Rights, Magna Carta, Mayflower Compact, Constitution.


Section 2:


Activity 5: Create a 5 to 10 minute Vocabulary Digital Story including the vocabulary terms: charter, legislature, tyranny.
Activity 6: Create a 5 to 10 minute Vocabulary Digital Story including the vocabulary terms: direct democracy, republic, natural rights, Committees of Correspondence.
Activity 7: Create a 5 to 10 minute Vocabulary Digital Story including the vocabulary terms: compact, separation of powers, constitution, ratification.
Activity 8: Create a 5 to 10 minute Vocabulary Digital Story including the vocabulary terms: English Bill of Rights, Magna Carta, Mayflower Compact, Constitution.


Section 3:

Activity 9: Pretend you are a colonist during the 1760's. Write a short essay explaining why you believe a change in government may be necessary and in which ways such changes should be made. Be sure to include any of the vocabulary terms we have discussed to better support your claims.
Activity 10: Using the internet and your text write a short essay explaining the differences of government which existed before the Declaration of Independence was signed and after its signing. Be sure to include terms such as the English Bill of Rights, Articles of Confederation, monarchy, democracy and any others we may have discussed to support your point.
