b.Introduction: Students will come in and be asked to list as many words (which contain prefixes) related to history as they can.
c. Model: Students will read a basic paragraph I have written on the board which pertains to history (for example the American Revolution). Once read, students will identify at least 5 prefixes, as well as the root word, located within the paragraph.
d. Guided Practice: Students will be divided into small groups and each group will be assigned one of the words found in the pargraph from the board. Using their textbooks and primary sources which will be provided, students will find as many sentences containing that word and will write out those sentences and context of the word. Students will also define the root word used to the best of their abiltiy, and explain what it means with the addition of the prefix (for example prehistory or recall).
e. Independent Practice: Using the words we have identified and expanded on in class students will go home and create a short story(no more than 15 sentences) using those words in their correct context.
